Question How long was delivery delayed due to hitch installation?
For those of you that had the dealer install the trailer hitch, how long was your delivery delayed by it? Did they do it before delivery or did you have to come back. My dealer wants to deliver car then have me schedule appoinment to have the hitch installed. I want to take delivery of a complete package as I ordered.

I had mine done before delivery. Install takes about 6 hours.

I would insist upon installation before delivery (and will). If they botch the job they'll be under more pressure to fix it- and you're not in a loaner waiting.

how much are you paying for the whole hitch installation? i'm thinking of doing it too. do they have to mess around with a lot of the car? does the whole bumper come off, etc.?

Yes bumper needs to be removed and the bumper carrier removed, wiring and programming.

Not sure. I had mine included. I believe it was $700-$800 plus install time.

My X5 arrived Monday nite, the hitch takes about 4 or 5 hours to install. I too thought it was best to see what it looked like prior to taking taking delivery. I will pick it up on Friday even though they said they could have had it ready for me today.

Oh, the price, it was right at $1,000.00. All the more reason to see the job before taking delivery.
