X5's Traffic service expanding again

About time:

Traffic information service coming to B.R.

An expanded traffic information service, which will provide information on where commuter snags are happening and on alternative routes to avoid delays, is set to debut locally Saturday. Clear Channel Radio's Total Traffic Network will expand into Baton Rouge and nine other cities, bringing its coverage area to 80 metropolitan markets. The service provides traffic information to navigation systems made by manufacturers such as Garmin, TomTom and others, and certain BMW and Mini Cooper models.

Glad to hear about enhancements. BTW, will this free service expire after our 4 years and what is the re-up charge?

I just got my BMW Assist renewal yesterday. $398 per year. It shows $199 for the basic assist and $199 for the convenience plan which includes the traffic service.

hmm, doesn't the traffic service come with Navigation (and nothing else)... that's what it looks like when you place a new vehicle order. I didn't think it had anything to do with BMW Assist.

its free for at least 4 years. BMW has guaranteed 4 year minimum, beyond that they state as long as the contiue an agreement with the provider it will be free.

So does the nav automatically reroute too or just show the delays?

It should re route, but I haven't seen that work too well because once it told me to get off every exit on the Edens and take L. Shore Drive when the highway wasn't bad at all.

It would only give you a re-route if you're using the turn by turn feature. Otherwise, you can see the delays on the screen while driving (black arrows and car logos. The re-route is not as accurate, at least where I live. It made me drive a few extra miles when the congestion is not as bad.
