popping out wheel center caps

Is there an easy way to pop out the center caps from the outside? I can see the "teeth" from the inside while the wheels are unmounted but if they are mounted on the car already, is it extremely difficult? Afraid a screwdriver may mark up the rim. Would it even work?

Have temporary caps on them but itching to get the new wheels on the car and switch out the caps later.

A decent suction cup works wonders...

I use good packing tape to pull them off. Clean the caps so it sticks better. Use a strip long enough to pinch together in the middle to make a grip.
