Picked up new 4.8... now stuck in Snow Storm 1 day later, LOL

picked up a new 4.8, black on black w/bamboo, fully loaded (minus 3rd row seat/entertainment) from factory in south carolina... and love the 20" tires. unfortunately, driving back to boston, i've hit quite a snow storm and these tires are TERRIBLE (as i expected) in the snow.... so rather than risking it, have decided to wait it out at a friends house along the way.

Now i just need to find a good set of snow wheels/tires ASAP... so looking into it.

I will post pics of the car over the next few days. The performance delivery went well and is enjoyable. car is great, love satellite radio and HUD, etc. a few minor issues here and there, but overall positive.

have questions to ask later on.... but just wanted to let anyone who has 20" summer tire option know... that you should stay OUT of the snow!

let me know what winter package you go with as this is an option I am considering myself!

good call on not risking it - supposed to get 1-3 inches per hour for the next 6-7 hours.

Back to the slushy 40's tomorrow so you'll get a salty haze on that nice new black X

You might as well be driving a toboggan!!! Same thing happened to me last year in April. I bought a set of OEM factory 19" all-season michelins and they are fine. Maybe not as good as dedicated snow, but no problems so far.

Be careful out there !!!! Just came home, the car was covered in 1/2" layer of ice.... Yikes !

BTW, did not realize the windshield washer nozzles are under the hood cover !!!!

The 20s on my 4.6is were deadly and I had to get the 18" winter package. Anything more than slush was like trying to walk on ice.

The rubber on the 19s are decent. When I first got the E70 back in March, it went straight into the snow.

I'm not sure if the 18" Style 99s from my E53 4.6is will fit but PM me if you change your mind on borrowing them. The leadtime can be a few weeks if the package is not in stock. They are just sitting in storage and might as well be of use to someone.

I have a E70 w/ the sport package 19" and they work pretty good. Not nearly as good as my pirellie Scorpions snow/ice on 18's. If the 20" are anything like the e53 19"/20" then you will not want to drive in the snow.

Are those summer or all seasons you have? In the UK the Sport 19" tyres are classified as ultra high performance.
