Just found out the Navigation will play burned DVD mp3's

Just playing around with burning a DVD-r with MP3's so it holds 4.2GB of music vs. only .7 with a normal CD-R. I used Roxio Creator ver 9. The standard BMW CD player will not play the disk. So, what the hell, I pop out the Nav DVD and insert the disk and walla 4.2gb of music broken down into seperate folders by artist. Almost like an instant ipod without the $700 option 6fl and well, Ipod.

Only downside is no nav at the same time and I don't believe I can shuffle the songs. Music sounds incredible however with just the standard 07 4.8 sound package.

If you have 2008 Premium Sound Package, your DVD changer will do the same trick. I believe you can play random songs within a given folder.

The music shows up under entertainement but instead of CD its says DVD. no way to randomize the songs unless I do it before I burn to disk at least on my 07 nav dvd unit.

Select a track from one of your folders using the iDrive knob in the usual way. Press the knob once and you'll see menu options such as "Play". turn the knob clockwise passed the point of resistence and select "Random all" and your good to go. Works perfectly on my 2007 Nav DVD player.
