car seat questions...

I am still debating if I should get an X5 or MDX? I am wondering which one is roomier. Look like trunk on the 2 SUV are about the same, just like to hear from those whose got 2 or more car seat in the SUV...

1. How can car seat can be fitted on the second roll?
2. Is there a latch in the middle seat of the second roll?
3. If you put 2 car seats on the second roll, is there enough room to fit an adult there?
4. I supposed there is not car seat attachment on the third roll, am I correct?

I can not speak to car seats but I think the essential difference between the two cars is in the lineage. The BMW is derived from a company committed to building sports oriented vehicles. BMW automobiles have always put the emphasis is on performance and handling. The X5 is built with no less in mind. The MDX is build by a company whose lineage is vehicles for the masses with an emphasis on economy. The MDX may be a fine SUV, but to those who notice, it does not posses the soul of a BMW. As it is important to also protect the contents of the car seat, the X5's ability to avoid a dangerous situation is superior to the MDX.

If the E70 is anything like the E53 X5, there is more then enough room for a car seat via LATCH. And they have a LATCH setup for the middle of the seat as well. I would hope the E70 kept the same systems in place.

I have no use for car seats but think there are multiple points to attach. I did however look at the MDX and the Volvo XC90 before getting my X5 4.8.

I found the MDX lacking in power but if you are looking at the X5 3.0 that is not the case. There is a differecne in materials used and for myself I did not like the visability out of the rear. There seems to be a much larger blind spot in the rear quarter.

It depends what you want or do not care about.

It depends what you want or do not care about.

I have friends with both the Acura and the Volvo. Nice cars, but with the shortcomings listed above.

I hear the volvo seatbelts are too short for certain car seats. Although I am in the US, I bought EU car seats (Maxi-Cosi).. LOVE ISO-FIX.

Doesn't matter if you are using a LATCH system.

1-Latch on 2 outside seating positions.
2-no unfortunately
3-small adult
4-not sure did not get 3rd row.

I have 3 kids. 2 boosters attached via latch on the outward seat and an infant carrier in the center. The infant base in the center with only the seat belt holds the seat belt very secure. We did a test fitting on an 07 X5, Audi Q7, Acura MDX and MB GL/ML.

Thanks for your advice. I am really leaning towards the X5 already, but just like to hear from those whose's in the same situation as me...
