M sport pack delay?

My dealer called to say there are long delays in the M sport pack. I ordered Nov 3.0sd with M pack. I was expecting Feb the it was March, then April, last week they say May, today he tells me of a further delay and is not sure exactly when. Are they just stringing me along? This is a replacement vehicle for the leaking one I got in July that they could not fix after seven times.

I am really a frustrated BMW driver and just wonder if I must get something else.

Hi Beefy sorry to hear about your problems, I can't answer your question but look on the brightside you will hae a brand new X5 and I am sure you have your old one. BTW first time I have ever heard of BMW actually replacing a car, Well done.

The dealership are actually buying it back and I need to pay a small amount for usage. Had I taken a stock vehicle they would have changed it but there was nothing with the specs I needed. It is just so frustrating with the date changing all the time. Its hard to see a bright side so far away. I am also afraid to take the current one on a long journey with oil leak.

Read yesterday on a German X5 forum that already 2 people with X5 with M-Packs on order have received notice of 4 months delays. One guy ordered in Oct'07 and has now been quoted June'08 delivery.

Appears there is a problem with parts availability for M-Pack. Normal versions and sports packs still seem to be on schedule.

Have contacted my dealer as well but have not had an answer yet but I fear the worst

Sam

I ordered a new 3.0sd SE last weekend, i think the SE looks better than the M Sport, if i had wanted a M Sport then the order would have been put back by months as there is a problem with production in the US. So the putting back of M Sport orders seems to be universal.

My X5 M-Sport 3.0SD came into my dealer on Monday, and I am collecting it tomorrow.

I was in with him last week because he had two other m-Packs to deliver to customers (in Space GreY) so I wanted a look. He said that there are now huge delays on the M-Packs, especially the orders with the 20" wheels.

I have been on my dealers list for the SD for 12 months, but he only got his production slot in November. it was origionaly supposed to be built Week 2 Jan 08, but it actually got brought forward to Week 50 2007.

Anyway, sounds like the delays are real!

I can't believe the poor supplier management on BMW's part for a company this size and supposed expertise. This is nothing short of a failure. Come on BMW get your %^$& together!!!
