New X5, minor problem
Any idea of what it might be? Other than that everything is great. |

Could it be tire balance?

Have the dealer check your wheel balance on all four wheels. You might have a bad tire. Have them road force balance them if they have the equipment...

Thank you, I will try that although it is not the usual vibrations the tires off balance display.
I will take it to the dealer. |

There HAS GOT to be something wrong there. This vehicle will go 180km/h with no wobbling whatsoever. feels like i;m going 100.

Also - take a visual look at the rims and see if any of your wheel weights have flown off..

There are some freeways in the Los Angeles area that will toss cars from side to side. One of know of is the 91 in some places, and the 605 in some places. I've had this happen with a number of vehicles, big and small. (Inclusive of my X5.) It's not really bad, but it is obvious.
I believe it is the ridges that are cut into the road to negate a perfect hydroplane environment. The tread of the tires, I think interacts with the ridges and moves the vehicle very slightly. I'm not sure where you're located, or if this is even the issue. I'm only giving my own experience. Joel |
