My experiences with the '08...

All the nice things you guys have already mentioned. Fantastic power, handling, luxury, style, etc. Its X5-ness is inherent.

Bugs? Well, of course, the backup camera is useless, iDrive is slow and the stereo sucks. But actual "problems" are limited to cmyx5go's mention of the power window glitch (only happened to me once). The only problem I'm really annoyed about is the stereo; wish BMW would do something about that. Otherwise, it's just fantastic.

Now, I'm having a little remorse about not waiting for the diesel. It's the perfect X5. Whatever. I won't think about it when I'm accelerating from 0-60mph in 6.3 sec.

I had my own share of "bugs". All cars do. But these bugs will not deter me from getting another X5 when my lease runs out. I love everything about the car.

I just can't see myself driving another SUV (or SAV) other than the X5.

Can you???

What is the average MPG, I have the impression that the new model eats a lot more gas?

seems to be a bit thirsty but compared to all other SUVs it's about normal... remember it leans more on the performance side than most... it's definitely not a CRV.

i'm still waiting for this to improved as i break her in.... right now it's still registering an average of 12mpg on a 3.0 at a little over 500miles!

not the numbers i was hoping for..

I'm getting almost 17mpg in mixed driving. Sure beats the ~14-15mpg I got on the '05 Pathfinder I dumped to get this bad machine ('08 X5 3.0si).
