Q for those who recently placed a new order...

Ideally when would be the right time to place a new order for March production? A couple of weeks before March or a couple of weeks into March? Has anyone placed an order in advance? Is it possible to go through all the financing & approval process etc. and defer the order until then? Looks like the wait times are only a couple of weeks for delivery right now...?

i can't answer your Q but why do you want a march production specifically?

That's when the new idrive is implemented in the X5 and X6. You might want to cancel your order and wait for it. It's a pretty big deal.

I'd wait for the dealers to get demo's with the new system, just to be sure.

i see, thanks for the heads up. it's tempting but i did more digging and there's speculation on the 2nd gen idrive being implemented in MY2010 vehicles.

i don't have nav and i wasn't even expecting to get idrive. so everything is good

It's not speculation, confirmed by BMW internal sources. Apart from nav, the idrive system is the same between Tech and Non-tech. I have no vested interest in your choice, but suspect you'll end up regretting having been impatient over a few weeks. GL.

My order went in Friday...i'm keeping it. Other than occaisional speed lags in the Nav picking it's route, i've been one of the few fans of the current I-Drive.

Where abouts in Canada are you, and how long did they quote you for delivery from the time you ordered?

i'm in toronto. i ordered space grey with black interior with sport, activity and premium package. they already have a pre-configured one so i go pick it up next week. how about you?

Well I haven't placed my order yet, thinking about waiting until March but it will most likely be a blk on blk 4.8i. I plan to order every possible option besides 3rd row sets. Also not sure about the dynamic handling although I do intend on getting active steering.

Were you able to haggle them on the price at all? Ontario and B.C. have lots of dealers and some good competition. Here in Alberta we pay the most! I doubt I will be able to get any more than $3000 off MSRP if that.
