Aluminum Running Boards
I missed out on getting the OEM aluminum running boards when I ordered my 4.8i How much can I roughly expect to pay in total for the running boards listed for $565 and installation from the dealership in total has anyone got them installed aftermarket from the dealership? Also how well do the OEM running boards work and are they worth getting? I am debating on getting them because it is tough for my older mother to get in and out of my truck I never realized it would be until she got into my X5 lastnight for the first time. How well do the OEM aluminium running boards match with titanium silver because it seems like only black X5's have them.

They'll match perfectly.

Got quotes from 2 dealers......
My e70 didn't have them (they're $300 from the factory). The selling dealer charged $1000 for the boards. Another dealer (Germain BMW - Naples) wanted $1200 when I called to inquire.
I can tell you that it took a good 3-4 hours for the running boards to be installed. Amazing that a $300 factory option can cost upwards of 4 times that when installed by the dealer. I have noticed (and read) that the aluminum running boards stain easily - especially if you go through a car wash. They sure do look great, though. |
