Got my production date!

I'm so psyched! I was told when I purchased my X5 that it would take 6-8 weeks, but hopefully I will get it sooner. I've read through a lot of this forum on what to do and how to bargain, things to look for, etc., so thanks to all! Here's the schedule so far:

2-11-08 Sent out email offers or filled out web apps to various dealerships (responses came back literally minutes after)
2-12-08 After reviewing 6 or so offers, I accepted the best offer and put down money to order and got production number.
2-13-08 Signed onto BMW USA driver's circle with production number, and it had the wrong vehicle. I have learned that it takes the system a few days to catch up.
2-15-08 BMW USA driver's circle now shows my correct vehicle, but still no production date.
2-18-08 Called BMW USA and was checking on my status. They gave me my VIN # and told me to expect it around mid-March barring no problems.
2-18-08 Dealership emailed me to tell me that the vehicle is expected to be produced by 2-26-08, so this confirms what BMW USA has mentioned.


Here's what I got:

2008 BMW X5 4.8i
Platinum Bronze
Tobacco Nevada Leather
Dark Bamboo Wood Trim
Premium Package
Technology Package
Comfort seats w/ lumbar support
iPod/USB Adapter
OEM Trailer hitch installed

I pondered on the sports package as I love the 214 rims, but I'm not big on low-profile tires.

Nice - maybe you can post the 1st Platinum Bronze in the US. I don't remember seeing any from the states yet. I test drove a bronze and it was pretty nice in person on the X.

Nice color combo! It's exactly as my wife had chosen for her 4.8i and you'll beat us to it!

We ordered at the dealer on 1/31 but we won't need the car until ~4/10 as the lease on her Lexus ends in mid-April.

Just saw a Platinum Bronze 3.0si at the local hand car wash on Saturday - had the beige interior - but it's a superb colour for the car.

Yea, it's funny, because I fell in love with the tobacco leather first, then I had to choose the exterior. I wanted silver, but I didn't think it would go well. I wish they made these things in red, but they don't - oh well.

2-20-08 I called BMW USA and they told me that the vehicle is expected to be produced by 2-22-08, so the original production completion date was moved up by 4 days from the original 2-26-08

Congratulations on your purchase! I noticed that the build time was only two weeks from your order date - do you (or anyone else) know if you would have been able to pick it up from the factory that quickly?

Also, how'd you do on price? I'd love to pick-up from the factory and am hoping that by doing so I might be able to negotiate a better deal.

I don't feel like flying out to SC to pick it up - I'll wait until it gets to the dealership.

I got 1500 over invoice and that's the best that anyone around me within 300 miles would give me. Many dealerships wanted to give me MSRP.
