geez 10k. I'm only at 250mi. after 25 days. I literally need to make excuses to drive more. I'm seeing only 14mpg suburbs so far. Hoping for 17mpg+ one day like the sticker suggests.

I must use good gas. I drive between 60-70 mph to work (highway) and get roughly 18 mpg on a 3.0si.

You don't get good mileage until your done about 10,000klm and could take even longer. Also it won't be due for one but change out the air filter at 10,000klm.
You will be suprised that by that change alone you will get better economy. Apparently BMW only changes the filter after the 3rd service and that is to long. With turbo's there sucking a lot of air and with that all the city crap straight into the filter.

In the US, the X3 was officially given window sticker numbers of 17 mpg urban and 23 mpg highway. (All of these figures are US mpg). In the beginning, our X3 was getting around 14-15 urban and about 20 on the freeway. By 10k miles, it was about 25% better overall. Today, with 56,8k miles on the clock, urban is about 18 and freeway is easily 28 miles to the gallon. The biggest improvement is obviously the extra-urban driving, since it takes a lot of fuel to get 2+ tons moving! |
