iPhone & Aux In

Why won't the iPhone play music through my X5 using the Aux In port.
It works fine using a regular ipod touch but no sound from the iPhone only from the internal speakers of the phone???

Does anyone know if there is a compatability issue with the iPhone.

Take a look at the following feedback I got from BMWUSA Customer Service to see if it helps. I had asked if I needed a different cable for use with an iPhone or iPod Touch versus the conventional iPod....

"The cable that came with your vehicle is not compatible with later iPod and iPhone devices, however there is a newer cable available through the Parts Department of your BMW center.

Parts information:
X5 SAV (E70) All Models 65 11 0 036 446 W/O factory installed CD Changer prewiring
65 11 0 036 448 With factory installed CD Changer prewiring"

You need a different size plug, I have an adapter plug I got from radio shack. Costs like 10 bucks or something
