Thinking of colour coding the black trim - opinions needed

Hi All,

I am fed up trying to keep the black trim clean and I am considering getting the front and back bumper and fender flarers colour coded.

My car is titanium silver and I am either going to go for Black Saphire or Steel Grey to give contrast rather than silver.

Any opinions / photos?

Thanks

I think going for a black saphire/steel grey paint combo would be a bad idea.
If you're going to do it, I would suggest sticking with silver.

If ever you were to trade in your X, I think you would have serious problems offloading with a contrast colour.

I was inclined to also color match the trim however it is a costly and timely process despite what popular opinion may say. Apparently they need to sand down all the plastic parts then prime then paint. Painting the plastic parts with those grooves in it does not allow the primer to sit well and therefore it will chip. For that kind of money you might as well go for a hamann, acs, or hartge kit. Not worth it in my opinion.

I think color coding looks good. However, if your fed up now cleaning what are you going to do when you get those unsightly paint chips? At least with the black bumper now you can't see any chips or marks. The paint and clearcoat will be harder and will chip IMO.

Put a Aero kit on, looks better and costs less. Also your X5 won't be off the road for 2 weeks.

I personally do not like the "all painted" treatment on light colored X5's --- especially the white or silver models. I think it makes them look bulbous and they start looking like the Mercedes Benz...

I have the Aero Kit. Mine is grey and I've wondered if I should have have had all the trim painted grey. But then I have a good look at the car again, and I think that Aero Kit does such a good job with the contrast and adds to the styling that I have ruled out having all the trim painted.
