Smile Just delivered: 191.1" and 4,982 lbs.

Yesterday finally came and I picked up our new 08 X5 3.0si! (Monaco Blue Metallic, Tobacco Nappa Leather, Dark Burl Walnut) Thanks to all the shared comments over the last year in this forum. It was really helpful in planning my purchase.

First impressions: WOW! This is the best Bimmer we've had yet.

Pros: I love the color combo and the Nappa leather. It is so comfortable and classy looking. The premium sound is wonderful, as are the comfort seats and the HUD. Having the ipod connectivity is great. HD radio is also a real plus. The Navigation is MUCH improved over older models. Yeah! I even like the much maligned Back Up camera. It seems to work fine and is easy to see. I-drive seems to be relatively easy to figure out. The car rides well, has lots of pep and is a joy to drive.

Cons: I'm trying to get used to the new shifter, it's a bit weird, and the seat belt retracter is no longer adjustable so the belt hits me right in the neck. The new key system with stepping on the brake and also not having the mechanical parking brake will also take awhile to become habit.

Surprise: NO RUN FLAT INSURANCE I bought the car in Pleasanton, CA and the dealership there, East Bay BMW, is no longer offering Run Flat Insurance. They said there were too many claims but it may resurface again with some changes (like much higher $$$ I bet). The car has Michelin tires so it remains to be seen if Michelin really honors their road hazard warranty.

Here's a few pictures so you might see the color combo and Nappa leather.
