Double Sided Tape !!
Apparently the washer cover which is supposed to sit flush against the surface of the bumper is prevented from retracting deeper into the bumper by a bracket. This bracket is attached to the inside of the bumper by DOUBLE SIDED TAPE !! It appears that the tape on both of my headlight washers had given way leading to the washers retracting deeper into the bumper and unslightly gaps appearing. The cause of the tape giving way is unclear but obviously is related to build quality. The dealer fixed the problem by gluing the brackets back in place. They couldn't believe the method of attachment used and nor could I. I can see the logic of using double sided tape for badges and rubber door trims etc but not to hold against the pressure of the headlight washer retracting. I have actually held the washer arm whilst it wanted to go back into the bumper and it was difficult to hold. So if you see gaps growing around your headlight washer covers then maybe your double sided tape is giving way too....
