anyone have installed an Piaa H11 bulb Ion Crystal on their 08 x5?

No, but I have installed Piaa H11 Extreme White in my fogs.

I would just do real HIDs in the fogs. They're much cheaper now a days and will obviously match the headlights.

Good thought, however, the balasts, ignitors will take a beating from the on-off-on-off from the turning light feature. I'de love to do HID's but this was a big concern.

I haven't thought of that. I don't use that feature so it wouldn't affect me as much, but I could see a less than ideal ballast burning out from all the cycles.
