I have a 4.8i sports package. I can feel the difference. My ride is very soft or cushy without the sport button on. I have 19" tires though. I'm guessing your harder ride is due to the 21s.

How hard are you cornering? Try pushing it until DSC intervenes. Or if you've got space, turn DSC all off and toss it around hard. If you don't feel a difference then, perhaps you do have a problem.

Also look at the RPM's when you're in manual mode. Watch how quickly it changes gears.....Phil

I have a 4.8i with 20" Y-Spoke wheels, and when I activate the Sports button, the ride gets quite hard. I actually like it off, as the car itself has a firm enough suspension. But, I can for sure feel a difference.

Funny thing, my friend has the suspension in "sport" all the time. We were driving around town with less-than-perfect roads, and I noticed it. He's like "oh I like it this way. I just leave it on all the time." I noticed that even in normal D, the automatic shifts instantaneously and way faster than the 6AT in the 325i.
It's interesting how BMWs give the driver more confidence all the time. He was dodging around traffic, something he never really did in his TL. And the sad thing is, he had spent a good dose of money on putting the A-spec suspension and some other mods.........and now he likes the X5. It reminds me of those Avis commercials running on TV.

I always have it in sport, except when I have passangers who I know want a softer ride. (my fiance is a good example) I was giving a ride the other day to my brother and his wife and forgot to turn the sports button off, oops. I then proceeded to hit every pothole and manhole cover, not on purpose however, but I think she wasn't too happy with the ride.

I have it on all the time (not by choice, Canadian sports pack) and I do feel it jiggles quite a bit and make be worry about the Run flats or rims. the pot holes feel just so harsh. (Relatively speaking of course to the soft american makes and what have you). I'm young and I don't mind but the button option would be nice.
