Questions for the brand-new X5 (E70 2008) after the 1st month or 1000km?

I've just picked the brand-new X5 a few days ago.
Any checking or services is needed after the 1st month or 1st 1000km?
Thanks a lot.

it is depend if you lease or purchase. If lease I won't spend a dime until 15k service call. If you buy, then I would do an oil change for $100. I don't like the idea of 15k oil service on the e70, was 12k on the e53. I think it is just BMW saving money on service costs. I am old school, 1000 miles first oil change, and every 5000 to 7500 miles thereafter, depends on your driving style and climate. Better to be safe than sorry, since you may owned it for a long times, But if it is a lease. I won't spend a dime, and turn it in after 36mos and get another new bmw. What is extra couple hundred dollars a year oil changed, then a thousand of dollars in engine repair after your 4 years service plan expired. Just my 2 cents. I hope this help!

Generally only BMW ///M and MBZ AMG models need a service and oil change after 1,000 miles (both our M3 and Z8 Alpina needed it, and was free!) Since the X5 4.8i uses the "old M5" engine derivative, it might need an oil change sooner than a 3.0si, but IMO, 1,000 miles is too soon.

Wow, cannot belive $500.00 for an oil change in the UK. That has to be wrong! If so, then that dealer should be taken to court!!

believe me it's £250! That's $500, labour is at the very least $180 per hr. Welcome to our world ;-)

if it isnt washer fluid then why bother messing with it if its under the bonnet and under warentee? if it blows up after 12 months then why try to explain to the dealership why the oil plug has been out?

As much as i think about that I never touch anything under the bonnet or bmw will find you have had the oil plug out and probably say its voided the warentee due to you putting the wrong oil in or something...

just my opinion on it....

do they change your oil at the annual maintenance regardless of how many miles? Like if you happened to do only 1k total in a year...

Thanks for all.

Actually, when I picked up my car, the dealer advised 1st checking/services at around 1yr or 20000km.
My impression is that would it be too late for the 1st checking/services?
How do you think?

My car is X5 E70 3.0si, 18"wheel, 255/55 R18 tyre.
What should be the 'normal' gas mileage for driving in city?

Thanks again.
