BMW n00b - Updated w Pictures

Greetings all from a rainy Belgium,

First of all congratulations with a great Forum, this is obviously the place for anyone looking for E70 info and I've spent several fun hours browsing through some of the great posts.

Currently driving an Audi Allroad but have ordered my very first BMW last week. Not sure why I've not tried a beemer before (guess wisdom comes with age )

As I was trying to configure my X5 I had to take into account that it is a company car and "pimping" it too much was maybe not a bright idea. Tried to go for a somewhat individual look but still keep it a bit understated (insofar that is possible with a X5 )

In the end I opted for :

3.0d
Carbon Black
M-Package with 20" rims
Black Nevada leather
Panoramic sunroof
Executive pack (Xenon,GPS etc)
Exterieur Line Aluminium
Dark Bamboo finish
Comfort seats.

Dealer told me to expect delivery mid-April 2008 so now the suffering begins.

Testdrove a Q7 and ML as well but they did not come close to the X5. Most impressive was how fast people move aside when they see this thing thundering at them in their rearview mirror (insiders will know Belgians can't drive and for sure never voluntarily move from the fast-lane )

Anyway will post some pictures in April.

Sam

You can't be that old, otherwise you would've bought a Merc.

Welcome to the board. Always nice to see a fellow country man signing in. Congratulations on switching to the bright side. You will love your X5.

Personally I'm not such a big fan of the M-package for the X5 (but I'm a big fan of the M product). The carbon black will make up for it and will give you that individual touch you are looking for.

The waiting goes fast. I remember having to wait from the end of July (= ordering date) till February 08. Then my dealer was able to get me an earlier slot meaning the car should be arriving any minute now (exciting times). It will be April before you know it.

Hang in there and we look forward to the pictures in April.

Cheers.

PS: if it is any comfort ... try driving an M6 on the fast lane in Belgium. It is amazing what stupid things people will do when they see you. All of a sudden everybody wants to race. Even grandpa in his Merc 190 diesel. But Holland isn't any better for that matter.
