Question about HIDs on my 3.0si...

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and just bought a 2008 X5 3.0si, very nice car and just a got a quick question would like to ask. i have installed a sets of HIDs on my car, once I turned it on it works, after a few seconds the lights go off and a error message came up on my dashboard.
just wondering if anyone here experienced this situation?is there a way to get rid of the error message?a relay cable?

The HIDs that i bought from the guys said that is for BMW which can get rid of the error message with integrated digital ballst. but unfortunately it doesn't work...

p.s my x5 doesn't have xeon headlight optioned. what HIDs do you guys use?

Thanks...

Hi,

I upgraded my Halogen to xenons and I dont get that problem sometimes however one or both the lights dont come on all I need to do is turn them off and on again. This generally happens if I turn the light on after starting the car and the battery voltage is quite low.

I bought my system from EBay

If anyone has used a system that work 100% let us know!

Don't all the U.S. spec cars come with HID's standard? I know you're not from the U.S.

Just a thought....The inginitor for the HID's requires an initial draw of around 25,000 volts then once inginted (lit) the draw is very small, less than the regular halogen. Perhaps this is triggering a "safe" mode and shutting down the circuit or the wiring is not correct. You may need to look into an upgraded wiring harness.

That is what I thought also and when I emailed the supplier he sent me a relay harness which I have not fitted yet.. I am sort of happy to just turn on and off the lights for the moment!
