Can the phone adapter be easily removed?

I would like to remove the phone adapter/holder from the centre console as it takes a lot of space and I dont use it, I use the bluetooth with phone in my pocket. Any one done this?

Well, I've added one to my E70. I agree that it takes a lot of space but I wouldn't think of removing it --- I get three more bars with my cell phone hooked up to it.

It's easy to remove. Just lift it up in front and unscrew the bolts holding it at the back. I'm not sure about the two cable disconnects though. You might not be able to get to them as they may be underneath your middle compartment. You would need the "cover plate" that would cover the hole left at the back too.

i already unscrewed the bolts and try to remove it but there were 2 cables... i then opened adapter by unclipping the clips on both sides and tried to dissconnect the cables from inside.

they were connected in a way that you cannot dissconnect them easily like pulling it out of a socket. since I dont use this option i thought of everything (in terms of how to remove it). i know its not a wise thing to do but what I did is that I cut the two cables and wrapped a special tape that will secure the electricity so no fault will show in my screen.
know i have a huge center console for storage with no need to move the phone adapter up and down. fortunatly no faults were detected by the cars computer and I can still use my bluetooth like before.

Thanks for the Info, maybe the dealer can do it for me, I would hate to mess something up. I cannot understand why this darn thing was put in my car, all I ordered and wanted was the blue tooth.

I was actually thinking of adding one to my car! Think it looks really cool. Plus the gain in reception is the main draw.

It may seem inconvenient having to take it out of ones pocket (since there is bluetooth already). But phones really should be kept away from the body as much as possible (with the unknown affects of radiation and all).
