Engine start issues - 6 month old X5

I'm on my 3rd BMW...and until my 07 X5 things were great.

Our 6 month old, 9,000 km X5 has a starting issue. Twice in the last 3 months my wife put in her keyfob, pushed the button to start - and nothing!

My wife had to call BMW Roadside and then sent a service truck out on both occasions. They boosted the battery and now it "appears" fine.

I brought the X5 into the dealership and they are running some diagnostic testing - but my service dude claims that it "could be anything" - but they will not know for 3-4 days.

So to add insult to injury - my loaner car isn't even a BMW - it's from Enterprise Rental (that my dealer has a relationship with) - and get this....it's a Toyota Yaris! What fun!

Anyway - anyone else experience starting issues on their E70?

That sucks, but battery issues sadly are not uncommon with modern BMWs. Apparently they've gone British on electrical systems.

Yes, there is a SIB, here in the US, that addresses the car, not "going to sleep". When this happens, the battery is slowly discharged, and you end up with a dead, or severly weak battery. I had the update done, and it seemed to fix "that" problem. Sadly, the E70 has a lot of issues though

Only when the brake pedal isn't depressed. Are you sure she had it depressed?

If I had a BMW still under factory warranty and they did not give me a BMW loaner, I would go elsewhere. You have choices - tell them that.

Had a similar problem - came out to be a bad battery cell. Enjoy your Yaris, drive it as much as you can, it will save you big $ on gas !
