Resetting adaptations for Gearbox

Hi car has come back from dealer with explanation "Resetting adaptations for gearbox" what does this mean?

Read from a tech's citing that it only learns during each session and once powered off it is reset the next time. Don't know who to believe.

Agree...what I have heard is that the tranny only learns during each driving session. Have never really taken the time to verify though. I have no idea what your tech message means, then. Sorry...

Yes, hesitation at low revs and slow gear selection, they were supposed to do a software update but did this instead. I assume all they have done is reset the gearbox to start re learning again.

Is Yours is a 2007 or 2008 model.. .?? I have a 2007 Diesel... I have had the software upgraded twice so far ...

Built Sept 2007 bought dec 2007. just had new software upgrade apparently not sure what to. This would be the 3rd upgrade i think.

I have an 09 X5 diesel, and it has the same issues with hesitation, gear selection, etc. I don't think anything has really been done at all otherwise the 09's would have been sorted out by now. This is why they should have offered a manual transmission as well. Still loving the X, but the shifting and hesitation is irritating for sure.

The only hesitation I get is turning into a corner that is up a hill... if I accelerate into the corner it comes out the other side no problems at all...if I use brakes and accelerate out of the corner then the hesitation is there and it surges a little.
