Just pulled the trigger...

Well, now the waiting begins. Just placed an order for an '08 X5 3.0si, spec'd as follows:

Space Gray
Saddle Brown
Dark Poplar Trim
Premium Package
Rear Seat Entertainment
Rear Climate Package
Heated Rear Seats
Cold Weather Package
iPod Adaptor
Running Boards

Thanks to everyone who has provided such a wealth of useful info on this board (especially all the Space Gray/Saddle Brown pics!).

Congratulations. Truly a nailbiting few weeks ahead of you. It'll be well worth the wait though.

Hi you did not want to wait for a 2009 with Google Maps/My Info? I am in the fence...I am thinking in ordering one but I would love to have Google Maps/My Info in it...however, I guess the 2009 will take a while to come up or be available for ordering ah? That sucks...I wonder if it can be retrofit. Also...I think your wait will be about 5 weeks...the turn-around time is a bit faster now.

Nah, couldn't wait that long. The lease on the wife's XC90 is up on 7/15.

Excellent choice.

New X5 Already at Dealer

Holy Crap!! I placed my order on 5/27 (had to special order because of Saddle Brown interior and rear seat entertainment) and I heard from the dealer that the car already arrived yesterday!!!! Two and a half weeks. Gotta be a record.

Just ordered a new set of summer shoes (214s with Toyos).

Should be able to pick it up early next week.

Woo Hoo!!!

- I thought saddle brown was already in the ordering system for US since December? Or do you mean it had to be special ordered since there were no saddle browns in their lot?

- Summer wheels for Minnesota... ? Are you sure the Toyos you got aren't all-season? Right now you're planning on going back to the 18s every non-summer?

It's in the ordering system, but apparently only as a priority option - from what I've been told (could be wrong, of course), dealers can't/wont order those for lot inventory. Anyway, they didn't have the combo I wanted, so I ordered it.

As for the tires, yes, I'll be switching back and forth. Winter is pretty serious business here in MN. I'll probably ditch the all seasons that come on the 18s and put on some proper snow tires, probably Michelin Pilot Alpins like I run on my 540 every winter. Usually take the summer wheels/tires off in late mid-late November, and switch back in mid March, so its only about 4-5 months with the snows.

Nice! Way to bail on the XC90. We went through two of them before we finally got smart and traded in on an X5. You are going to be soooo much happier!
