Smile 4.8M Sport does 30 mpg No problem

I filled up my tank in Glasgow Scotland, and did a trip to a place called Grangemouth 35 miles away, when I started out, my 'fuel range in tank' said 356 miles, when I got there, it said 432 miles and I got 30 mpg Some up hill some down hill, can any one beat that for a 4.8? Time to post your miserly fuel consumption ownage shots here :p

Sorry to rain on your parade but those numbers are not relevant. If i drive the car really hard (lets say 100-120mph) and then gas the tank up, it might say 400 miles in tank when i start. If i then drive gently for thirty miles at 50mph, it might still say 400 miles (because it calculates based on average mpg for the most recent period).

That's fairly on par with what's possible for a 4.8i given optimal conditions. UK gallons are larger than US gallons. 29,4/1 gal UK is 24,5/1 gal US. Add in an average speed of 52,2mph and a fair amount of coasting (thank BMW's torque converter technology) and I don't see why others can't replicate this.

Lets see ya posts then how low can you go ? and post up .. dont worry,.. after proving my point to myself I dropped two or three cogs, and blew my stats to hell
