X5 Sirius SAT Question

Just bought a brand new '08 X5 but it did not come with the SAT pre-wire package. Can the dealership even add this option with out the pre-wire package?

I don't think so, that is if you want the XM to be controlled by the idrive.

Yep. That's what I wanted. SAT controlled by iDrive. I just called the dealer to see. They arent sure so I am awaiting a call back.

When I got my 07 X5 it didn't have SAT radio, I had the dealer install it and it works thru IDrive, etc.

Yea. The dealer just called me back. I'll be able to add it for iDrive control. I was concerned as the window sticker did not state the SAT pre-wire like all the other vehicles on the lot.

Since we are talking SAT radio. Is there a way to get XM. I.e. can one get XM aftermarket that would work through I-Drive.

four XM accounts and hate to change!!

From my understanding no, but it wont matter before too long as the FCC has given the two companies the green light to merge.
