The color looks much nicer live...photos are not doing it justice. I didn't expect the color to turn out this good looking on the X5...

I'm expecting that BMW NA will offer the vermillion red on the 2009 model and I am waiting for the 2009's before ordering. I also would not be surprised to see the twin turbo offered on the 2009 model.

I don't doubt you one bit. I've seen a VR X6 (test mules) here in Korea and the color was simply stunning. The original choices for the X5 to me were very subdued. The only departures from the grayscale chart were the blue, bronze, and greens.
