Complete idrive failure!!!

When I started my E70 yesterday afternoon the idrive display remained completely blank. I tired restarting the car a few times and even let the E70 sit for ~3hrs before I tried it again and but the display remained blank.

I tired the reset / reboot method - Press and hold the Mute button the CD eject and DVD eject at the same time then leaving the E70 sitting ignition off for 10 minutes. Still no idrive display!!

From what I can make out on other forums, it seems the CCC (Car Communication Computer) has failed! I am really disappointed with this as my E70 is not even 2 months old. I know other members on this forum have had “flashing” screen problems but I think I am the first with a complete failure. I found a service bulletin dated January 2008 detailing such problems; I’ve attached it as a .pdf file.

Would continued driving without immediate repair damage anything else? It’s off to the Dealers when I return from holidays; I really hope this will not be a regular thing with such a new E70.

Happend to our e-60. Took them four times to get it right.
Turned out to be a plug behind the Navi that was not seated properly.

At least that's what they said.

Hi Quicksilver

Are you one of the guys from "e60fourms"? I read that when they replace the CCC or repair the wire connections they have to dismantle the whole dash. Having to wait on four attempts to have a simple connection repaired seems too long. I think when I return home I am going to request a full replacement of the CCC because I have heard that it is the only full proof solution.

How long ago was it when you had plug replaced? Was your E60 in the garage long?

Regards
Enda

I have been on the e-60 forums but it seems like many moons ago.

I would have to look in the records to see what they did
but it was done less than a year ago. It was at the dealer
a day each time.
