Cool How messy to fill the diesel tank?

8 years ago I bought the 3.0 X5.
4 years ago I traded it for the 4.4 X5.
Now that the diesel engine is finally coming to America, I need to know if it is really as "messy" to fill the tank as they say.
I have read comments in passing indicating you need to wear a glove to refuel a diesel engine. Since the X5 is my daily driver, I need to fill the tank wearing a suit and tie (stupid USA fashion requirements).
I recently test drove the Mercedes ML 320 CDI and was quite impressed with the quiet power and low end grunt provided by the Mercedes Diesel engine. For those who have driven the BMW and Mercedes diesels, are they similar?
Would I regret dealing with the "mess" every time I need to add diesel fuel?

Thanks in advance for your response. It may influence my upcoming decision.
