Re .. Deutsch100

Hey Deutsch...some time ago we had an A/C thread about A/C's not working and I think you were going in to have it checked as others were having no problems. Just wondered if yours and others were working OK now. We have had several weeks of high 90's and low 100's in Kansas and the A/C flat runs us out of the X. Have a dog in the back so the back A/C is on also as some were saying if you shut the back off it's OK. Just checking in as no one is talking A/C on the board now.

Do whatever you can to minimise vehicle heat before you get in. Leave the moonroof in the "vent" position w/o opening the shade. Set up Parked-car ventilation. Leave the windows open a crack. Use a sunshade. Open the window via keyfob as you approach the car.

The dealership told me that the A/C is working to "factory standards". It's been hot here too, I don't remember a day since mid June, that's been under 90F! The dealership also told me that they get A LOT of complaints from owners that have an E70 or E90 (3er), as they complain about air flow strength and distribution. Sadly, my Service rep just told me that BMW's A/C isn't what is used to be. Sorry, no good news!

This is my 5th BMW and none of them have blown super-cold AC. Our last family car was a Lexus and I have to say that was the best AC I've ever felt.

However, the X5 drives a hell of a lot better than that Lexus!

I keep the moonroof panel closed, which kinda sucks since I love the open feel while driving - it's just not worth opening and closing that panel everytime so I keep it closed. I find it helps with the heat a lot. I've also been opening all windows via remote as I approach the car and by the time I back out my driveway the trapped heat is no longer an issue.

Deutsch as you might guess i am not a certified bmw tech but it is really wierd about the A/C. I have great distrubution and all the flow I need or want so it can't be a hardware problem. I think it has to be somewhere in the I drive or the software that runs it. It can't be just that bmw has a bad A/C as mine is every bit as good as my E 53 and it was great. The dam electronics are going to be the undoing of BMW in my opinion. Sorry you didn't get fixed up.
