Rec' pressure: 29 PSI for Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400!?!?

My OEM tires came with Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400. As soon as I received the vehicle, I looked at the recommended tire pressure inside the door and it says 29psi (200kPa) all around for 255/55R 18 109H XL. It seems like it's a little bit too low, wouldn't you say? My vehicle is not equipped with the 3rd row, and the tires are RFT.

Bridgestone's specification on the same model doesn't say much on the recommended tire pressure.

I'm guessing this 29 psi applies only to the Bridgestone OEM tires?? But still, 29 sounds a little bit too low.

Also, 29psi would be the recommended pressure that I'd need to refer to when i change my tires (probably to Michelin Latitude HP RFT), right?

They must be rec'd that pressure to cush up the ride...
so Biff&Buffy don't have buyers' remorse.

I would think that <30 psi brings on some tire shoulder
scuffing and wear at the outside edges, but pump 'em
as you choose.

Depends on your roads, desired ride comfort levels, and operating speeds. If you do primarily city driving at slower speeds (rarely exceeding 120km/h or 74mph) and want some ride comfort, the recommended pressure is probably fine.

On the other hand, if you do some more aggressive cornering, higher speeds (excess of 160km/h or 100mph) on smooth roads, bumping it up to 260kPa or 38psi can't hurt.

The ride sure is cushy. Feels almost like a luxury sedan. I set it at 30psi 'cause 29psi just doesn't seem like the right number.

But I'm also considering going back to 32psi, as motordavid stated, I'm concerned with scuffing the outer part of the tires.

BTW, Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 RFT is really quiet. I'd recommend it to anyone who's in the market for tires. (My experience is with the 18" standard wheels with OEM tires)
