Are they different - ipod integration kit

Hi,

My 08 E70 does not equip with ipod intergration kit and cd changer. I got an iphone and like to integrate with the factory stereo and steering wheel. I found two OEM kit from two different places but i was wondering are they same or different OEM kit for different purpose.

This one from getBMWparts.com selliing for $240 only

This one from ebay BMW Genuine X5 E70 X6 E71 2007+ iPod Retrofit Kit NEW:eBay Motors (item 170323567616 end time Jun-19-09 10:09:54 PDT)

BMW iPod Retrofit Kit

Anyone had either of them and experience? Can either of these I can do it myself? Does it require reprogramming from the dealer?

Thanks.

Those are one and the same - you will need dealer activation after the installation is performed.

Hmm, I actually came online to search for info on this and someone just posted!

OK, so I am sure I can install this myself but my question regarding Tom G.'s post, what exactly do you need dealer activation for, will that be like an idrive update or something?
Will the kit charge a 4th gen. nano ipod? I read some issues with that in some other posts (I think that was what I read ;-)

Is it just a cable between iphone and aux? Or whole retrofit kit with cradle? Fully intergrated like factory OEM kit? Anyone done it by yourslef with instruction?

I think this is a cable between the ipod and the cd changer (or where the cd changer should be). it will integrate with the idrive and your ipod will be in the glove compartment

All current production BMWs require activation on most new accessories added (CD Changer, iPod, Sirius, etc),

Kit will not charge the current iPod lineup or3G iPhone/touch. Only the mObridge iPod kit we offer is fully compatible with these models.
