Water clearance level for X5

Due to the recent tropical storm (in Florida) the exit to my neighborhood is now flooded pretty deep. I am hesitant to drive the X5 through it and turned around when it got to the running boards. Does anybody now how deep an X5 3.0 with 18" wheels can handle?

just wait....don't risk it

i know that the air intake is pretty high up so you won't be sucking up any water, however the exhaust might be a little lower so just becareful

Every system on the vehicle has a different depth capability. For example with the carpets, it can sometimes be the door sills.

For the exhaust, I wouldn't worry.

For the diffs, the vents are at risk.

The engine air intake is just behind the bumper, and ingesting water can be very expensive.

A previous poster noted that his E53 went through deep water just fine, but then he lost the electronics mounted in the rear quarter panel.

Don't risk it.

there is a pond at the BMW factory that they drive through once before shipping the cars (i think, or maybe its just for the driving experience event thingy where you pick your car up from the factory)

Try doing a search for people picking the X from the factory, i think i've seen pictures of X driven in water

If your owner's manual wasn't saturated you'd see that it states that the maximum wading depth for the E70 is 50cm.
