This pic does not look like Idaho--it looks more like New Jersey or New York (notice the metro train in the background in the one pic). Also, there is another X5 4.8 in the background in another pic. All very questionable . . .

dial the number listed in the ad, it is an idaho area code. maybe it is just being held in Chicago, or Sioux City.

or maybe, it is too good to be true. do ya' think?

I too saw that listing while trying to find a used 07. After a couple emails to the seller and no return messages, I wrote it off. A week later, I receive an email from him, which I have provided below. Sounds like a SCAM to me...:

-----------------------------------

I reconfirm you that the selling price is $42,000. I am sorry but I am not in US in this moment and I can't answer my phone. I am working in the US Air Force and now I am on a mission on the Persian Gulf. I am selling the car for a low price because I have financial problems. I use to gamble and I own money. The vehicle is currently located in NY not in ID. The vehicle supposed to be in ID but that never happened. The vehicle is already at the shipping company ready to be shipped. I already arranged the deal with another person but he change his mind because he found another vehicle. He already paid the shipping charges. You will not pay shipping charges. Shipping is free. The car is insured in case of damage and you will receive it at your door in 5 days. It will come with all the necessary papers (clear title, bill of sale, warranty documents, user's manual, insurance etc). All the documents are signed by me and ready to be transfered to the new owner. The title is clear and you will register it in your state without problems. This is the VIN#: 5UXFE83538L166524. You can't get a carfax report because with this low miles the vehicle has no record yet. I just bought the car in August but because of my problems I am forced to sell it below market price. There is no lien on the car. I have the title in hand.
The general condition is impeccable. The vehicle is like new, completely working, perfect running condition, with no hidden damages or accidents, NO DENTS, DOOR DINGS OR SCRATCHES, it has always been garage kept, non-smoker, still smells like new, no pets, 50 miles.
I will send you the pictures (in zip format) in my next messages. Verify your all email folders. The message may not come to inbox.
Just let me know if you are still interested in my car and I will send you more details about how can we make this transaction safe.

Regards,
Albert Roper

Captain,

Please send me your photos. I really wish you would have gotten back to me by last weekend as we bought an X5 out of Berkeley. I'm not opposed however to buying your car as well as I really like the way it's equipped. Is it still available? Would I be able to fly out there in the next week to look at it?

Many thanks.

Hi,
I apologize for the delay. I was busy. The car is still for sale. My selling price is $42,000. Clean and clear title in hand. No accidents. The price is low because I must sell the car fast. I have a serious financial problem and the sale of my car is the last solution.
I can send you the pictures and more details too. Just let me know if you are still interested.
Where are you located?

Regards,
Albert Roper

It doesn't sound like a scam, it is a scam... I don't know who would fall for it.

You would have to be pretty stupid in my opinion...
