Diesel X5-New XDrive Badging

Caught a few "bad" pic's of the US diesel X5.I will assume these are US models because every other car here lately on the PC track is an X5.Only on new model launches does every car get a spin on the track. These cars have been testing on the track since the Spring.I could have posted many pic's but.....the diesel X5's are almost indistinguishable from the gas 30si X5's short of the new XDrive Badging and a slightly smaller diameter exhaust tip than the 30si X5.They only recently started affixing the badges in the last couple of weeks. If I catch a full production oil burner somewhere before they are launched...I'll post up some pic's. Thanks! PalBay

Thanks for posting. I'm looking forward to more news on the 35d. I want one!

I'm guessing the base price will fall somewhere between the 3.0 and 4.8 models?

I think it should be closer to 4.8, but then BMW might test the water by offering it a little cheaper, then jack the price up if it proves to be popular.

Thnx for the pics Palbay!

I still hate the badging, but thanks for the pics.

I hope the 20 inch wheels are available for the diesel.

The diesel X5 at the North American Auto Show had 20" wheels on it...

I was told 2800.00 more than the 3.0. Unless you need the torque the very mild increase in MPG would take about 10 years to recoupe that 2800.00 over getting a 3.0 gas engine. I was hot for one till I learned they are expecting to charge that much. If they want Diesel to catch on again in the US they better price them closer to entry level.

I agree with The Cleaner...
I was told by a swarmy salesguy at Fletcher that the up was ~2800 to 3Gs,
but "they" were expecting to be able to "market adjust" the oil burners for a while.
That's a buzz word for gouge...

Other than torque for towing, or showing off your "enviro side" at the mall/club, the
arithmetic makes no sense. But, different strokes, or in this case different
compression ratios.

PS: PalBay is like the JamesBond of S'burg!

I'm all for better MPG.I think BMW and for that matter all the automakers, missed in their initial market analysis, the big run up in the cost of diesel fuel.As the previous posters pointed out...unless you tow or need to shout "Green" the diesels are a tough sell right now w/ the spread on gas vs diesel.Add in "market adjustment"....what a crock....and I'm afraid the oil burners might collect some acid rain waiting for a buyer. As much as I hate to admit this...w/ Bimmers new pull vs push plan...they might be able to limit supply so tight that they get a "market adjustment".I sure hope not.JamesBond has not seen to much undercover stuff lately.Waiting for the "M"'s to show their face a little more and the new 2nd Gen X3.Thanks! PalBay
