I'm trying to find the same product, explained in detail to my local dealer and they still sent one that needs a tow bar!
Now they are saying they are available in the US only... |

According to my parts list, the 337 part above seems to be an e70-only US rack. I'm in the US, and I just ordered and received the rear bike carrier that attaches to the x5 at the tow hook points. Part number is different than above: 82710443424. This seems to be an e70/e71 US rack.
There is another version that has lights and a license plate area. Perhaps that is the one needed for the UK. Here are the part numbers I'm seeing: 82710427335 for e70 only 82710443423 for e70/e71 There also seems to be some electrical kits for the e70 and e71, presumably to run the lights on the rack. |

I just saw the rear bike carrier today at my local dealer here in Reno. It was on a vehicle in for service and I never imagined that you could put such a rack on the back of a SAV without a hitch. I should have taken a picture for you but after seeing your post a couple days ago and then seeing the bike rack today, I'm sold! It's a must have if you are a roadie or a mountain biker. Wow...
