Engine Oil Capacity for 3.0SD

Hi,

I am going to do an oil change on my 3.0SD and i am not sure exactly what the engine oil capacity is for this engine and I cant find it in my owners manual.

Can anybody help?

I'm thinking about changing my oil myself as well. How often, mileage interval are you changing the oil? Are the any things I should be aware before make the attempt? E70 3.0si Thanks!

I will keep my E70 forever, so I did my 1200 (actually 1500 miles) break in oil change. Then I will change it at 7500, then I will have the one than by the dealer at 15000 and i will do it myself in the next 7500.

If you are leasing or not planning to keep the E70 then don't even bother and save yourself some cash.

I use BMW oil (cheaper than mobile1) got it from here with free shipping:

Make sure you can soften the oil filter casing and oil filter plug before you drain anything. I was anal and used a torque wrench for both (use 25Nm or 18 ft/lb) to make sure I don't overtighten the drain plug and mess it up.

All together around 50 bucks
