Yes, many have done that.
Use the search feature and search for 'resonator' or 'x-pipe' or 'xpipe' or 'resonator delete' and you will find lots of info. It's been discussed hundreds of times.

i did not find anything by searching that on the X5 E70 forums.....
maybe on the last generation ones, but its not the same motors so, i think it not the same thing....  ncx, saw your video clips of your set up, your x5 is owasome...i think its a 4.8is.. really nice.. congrats...

It's a 4.6 but thanks. It is a great, cheap modification.
Why don't you try the resonator-delete mod and post pics and results here?  Do it.
