roof rails - specifying type

With MY09 roof rails, can the satin silver ones (as per found on Individual X5s - ruby black, and some non individual E70's) - be specified as a code - or as part number for being installed when the car is made ??? (this of course is opposed to the standard black rails....

I don't think so? I think Brushed Aluminium (satin) or High Gloss Shodowline 'low profile' roof rails are only available for Individual or MSPORT, at least here in the UK.

Little tip I would recommend the Brushed Alu, I have the High Gloss and already a couple of scratehs from the roof rials mounts....which look silver. Thus Alu will hide these. I think I'll monitor and raise with dealer if serious.

ChesterX5 - can you post some pics of your X5? I'd like to see what the high gloss roof rails look like. I'm thinking of getting mine painted the same body color as my X5.

Hi drivesslowly,

As below, one of the guys set up a group on Flickr. Sorry no real close up of the rails.

It's small detailing but the low profile rails make everything look lower. When it rains too it's quite nice as there are no 'gaps' for rain to come through the sides onto/into your doors as you open c& lose. So all the water on the roof goes down the front or off the back
