Gearbox issue

I'm taking the car into the dealer next week, the car has started to develop an issue when changing fron 1st to 2nd when accelerating particularly up a slight incline. The change results in a "thud" and the car loses power, seems to do it more in non-sport mode. Only does it occassionally but it did the other day overtaking another car so I've lost confidence in it's overtaking ability... ever since software upgrade the fuel consumption is worse as well... maybe the fuel consumption is also a tell tale sign all is not well with the etranny.. I have a 2007 3.0d...
