Arrow Great price for Aerodynamic kit in Australia

Genuine BMW parts for the E70 X5

Picked mine up from the local BMW dealer this morning for only $1,600 Aus dollars.

These OEM kits would normally sell for about $2,200, I asked the spare parts manager if he wants to sell any more at this price and he said he had a few kits in store that he could do the same deal on. First come first served get one while you can.

If you guys in Australia want one give me a PM and I will give you the details.

Cheers
Bozz

That's $1035US... not bad. I guess you guys are always charged higher regardless so it is shocking. Adding paint/install is the bigger pain in the @$$ though.

I don't understand how plastic injected molded parts could be so expensive. these things are turned out by the thousands in a very short time by modern machinery and would cost a few cents each.

> by modern machinery

That modern machinery:

(a) Is very expensive, and

(b) Requires very expensive tooling.

Much of the final price is recovery of the tooling cost and the machinery time.

Add in BMW's profit, and the barrier to competition the high tooling cost provides allowing BMW to increase their margin, and bingo... you have your price.

Your not in the plastics injection industry are you? sounds like your trying to justify us getting ripped by these high price. Hehehe only kidding.

Surely though the machines are primarily used for a multitude of injection blow moldings ie everything plastic that you can think of, and they just throw in a different die casting mould. Its not as if this machine only produces one part every hour, this machine will blow mould thousands in a single shift?

Ohh sorry I just remembered that these parts have got a BMW logo imprinted on them so thats why we get ripped.
