2007 4.8i Give me your Opinions

Hey guys, was about to pull the trigger, still thinking, but know couple of things about the car that makes me think really hard.
Here are couple of things that i am curious about.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318

1.Feedback of the dealer includs lot of comments about PAINTWORK, AND HOW IT WAS COUPLE OF K'S TO FIX THIS OR THAT.
2. Very early production, take a look
3. While talking to the dealer could not really find out if it was JET BLACK LIKE HE LISTED ON THE ADD, OR IT WAS BLACK SAPHIRE METALIC, HE HAS IT LISTED AS JET BLACK BUT THEN TELLS ME ITS A SAPHIRE
4. SUCH HIGH MILAGE WAY TOO HIGH, MY 4.8IS HAS ALMOST SAME MILAGE 05
5. Carfax does not have enough information, just not enough
6. Window sticker on the add is very confusing, makes me think that the car came with 18's or 19's and the 20's where put on after, in other words makes me think it's not a sport package.

GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS, I SOMEHOW KNOW THAT IF I PULL THE TRIGGER IT WILL COST ME ANOTHER 5-6K TO BRING IT TO NORMAL CONDITION

It's certainly clean for a vehicle with that mileage. The 20" wheels are shown on the top page of the window sticker as an addition to the sports package which is correct.

Clean you mean in a good way, or a strange way?

It's def Saphire Black looking at the close-up of the headlight. Considering the seller's not-stellar feedback and vehicle's proximity I'd def have a PPI done at a BMW dealer local to him.

high mileage in such a short period isn't necessarily bad as it indicates mostly highway mileage.

You're in Miami, they're in Tampa... go drive it... make sure it doesn't have any quirks that early production vehicles did like squeaks and idrive anomolies - make sure firmware is up to date.

Unless it's done loops around the race track

The car is obviously out of the standard warranty very soon, which would be concerning, specially being an early build. 07's seem to have quite a few kinks which have been worked out in the 08s.

It seems there was a car seat in the back which means it was a family owned car so should have been kept nice but also means there could have been a few spills (etc.) accidents

Price definitely looks extremely good.

It says it's Sapphire right on the sticker along with sport package and 20" wheels so there's 2 birds with one stone. Other than that this has a lot of miles which leads me to believe that it's all highway miles (like they took long trips). I would try to find out more info from the owner if they can get that info to you, where it was driven, etc. It could have been some snow birds from the Northeast that drove back and forth to FL every month--who knows. It's a decent price but way too many miles--almost out of warranty.

I have to think that the eBay reserve price is the buy it now price - $43.9K. So you're going to pay that amount, plus you're prepared to spend another $5K-6K out of pocket to possibly bring it to "normal condition?" So the bottomline is you're prepared to spend $48.9K-49.9K, so it appears.

Alternative 1 - Get a CPO. There are plenty of $48K-49K X5 4.8i CPO's sitting out there.

Alternative 2 - Buy an '08 at 0.9% @ 60 months. There are dealer incentives to move 2008 X5's which should translate into a big time discount. Unless you're a cash buyer, you're likely going to get somewhere between 4.5-6.5% financing on the eBay car or an '07 CPO car, so there's another couple of grand savings on finance charges. There are over a hundred new 2008 X5 4.8i's sitting in Florida still unsold.
