I thought I'd post a couple of issues I've had during my short 6 month ownership of the E70 just in case it offers any help for people experiencing the same problems.
Issue #1
After a couple months of owning an '08 3.0, I started hearing a ticking noise from the engine bay. They "bled the system" which got rid of the ticking noise for about a month. The noise would appear after a cold start up or after a short drive. I brought it back in and got the head replaced. According to technician, the '08s should have cylinder heads that have an integrated check valve. For some reason, mine didnt. I would feel more peace of mind if these cars were built in Germany. So it's been about 3 weeks now and the ticking noise is nowhere to be heard. Apprently, this was more prominent with the X3s...here's a link I found describing the same exact problem I had. He describes the noise as pinging while mine is ticking. (

Issue #2
Occassionally when I come to complete stop, a smell similar to one blowing a candle out, comes in from the vents. It usually happens when I drive the car for the first time after it's been parked for a bit and the internals are cold. It's back in the shop and they're taking a closer look at it. From the visual inspection, there are no leaks that could have been evaporating on the pipes and we've ruled out the plastic bag stuck on the pipes. When smelling the engine bay, the odor seems to be coming from the radiator area.
Issue #3
Sometimes, when putting up the passenger-side window, the pinch protection kicks in even though there's nothing in the way.
It's too bad Lexus doesn't make an SUV that's pleasing to the eye and doesn't handle like a Camry. I'd be in their camp in a heartbeat.
