Question For 2007 Owners

First just let me say hello since I am new to this site.

I am trying to get some feedback regarding the 2007 model year.

I have the opportunity to buy a 2007 X5 3.0 and just wanted to know if you guy's like your car?

My potential X5 has less than 4k and looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. I know the family and they literally use it only on weekends. It is always garaged and still has the balance of the factory warranty.

It has the Premium package, Sport package, cold weather package and premium sound. I can buy it for 40K.

I have a 2006 3-series sedan, so I am not new to BMW.

So if anybody has any comments to share, i'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance and have a great New Year.

Sounds like a good deal, about 5K less than Kelly Blue Book. I love mine. I had a 2001 before this and it was a great car---still is. The 07 has a lot more features on it and so far so good.

I have a 4.8, and think it's great. After the multiple updates to the software, all of the initial issues I had are no more. (Except for the strange transmission shift pattern--which apparently still persists for many owners.)

To be fair, though, I don't drive mine much. I just turned 8,000 miles on the odometer.

There were some problems documented with the first year production of E70. I bought undriven (zero miles) 08 last month for couple grand more.
First year production of ANY model can be troublesome.

^ I agree - that's really the only thing to look for - the 1st year quirks. Make sure the firmware is updated and there are no creaks and rattles.

07 E70 3.0

I continue to be very pleased with mine and have suffered no issues other than a broken DVD drive (for the nav system) which was replaced under warranty. And although I don't know for sure, I suspect the 3.0 version could be more reliable than the 4.8 one. Bottom line: I would recommend this vehicle to anyone interested in a BMW SAV and especially if available for a reasonable price!

I'm on 18K miles and still feels like I just got delivery yesterday. I'm getting ready to hit the slopes of Mammoth and I can't wait to drive the X5. I had minor warranty issues with the DVD but was fixed with progman update. As the others have mentioned, make sure the firmware is updated. It's good to know the people that you're buying it from but a little investigative work would not hurt. Why are they selling it? Try and find out from the local dealers how many times this X5 has been in for warranty repairs. Good luck.

No major problems here either (07 4.8), software update needed to rectify a side miirrow that didn't tip down when reversing - that's it.

Cheers,

I have an 07 3.0. After driving it for few K miles, I started noticing hesitation on low RPMs. Very frustrating. It persisted even after updating a software. Other than this, woderful SAV. Superb on the snow. You only need one wheel with a better grip on the asphalt to assure stability.

I had to get the firmware updated to fix the steering wheel issue. Besides that I have had no problems with my 07 4.8 with 21K miles.
