Self adjusting suspension

Does my 08 X5 4.8i without third row seats have the self adjusting suspension? Also why doesnt the E70 have a button to adjust the ride height and suspension like the older Range Rover HSE's? What is the advantage of not being able to adjust the suspension height with a button?

yeah, as far as i know, all 4.8i have the self-leveling suspension.

Adjustable height suspension can compromise handling IMHO. if BMWs not designed to go off road but rather more for track use (for the road).

This is correct. Also, if you have a 3.0 with 3rd row you will also have self leveling.

I ask the dealer about the adjustable suspension like the land rovers and he said no the X5 don't have that feature. It is not a true off-roader like the land rovers are.
They only have the self leveling feature if you have the 3rd row seats.

the 4.8i have them as well. the Self Leveling Suspension is not for clearance adjustment but to stabilize underbody clearance; with heavier loads, it adjusts so that the back of the vehicle does not appear weighed down. Sure it helps with the driving dynamics as well.

in E53 4.8is, the adjustable ride height is standard equipment. so I don't think it compromises handling, no idea why BMW delete this usable function from E70.

It's standard on the 5 wagon, I think.
