hey wch X5,

where did you get the plastic plug from and what size fits perfectly? I'm just about to install the arches and was planning on just filling the hole up with silicon sealant or something similar.

On the 2011 X5 35D, all the fender holes for the passenger side arch line up perfectly. On the driver side is there one hole at the top of the fender that doesn't line up. So it seems the 10's have both sides affected, the 11's just the driver side so maybe the 12's will get it right! I shaved down one of the used plastic rivets and siliconed it over the hole, we'll see how long that lasts.

I got them at a local hardware store. Not sure what they are for but the store had a whole range of sizes. Something like $0.10 each. I superglued them into place. 4 mo later they are still there.

I did bent the divet with the plier little bit and have my Brotther hold it. Then placed the rivet in to the gun in trhe bent shape. I let go the plie at the same time i gave the first stroke, once first stroke is in it takes 1 more and it sbnaps right off.

It is possible to do all rivets when tires are on with the tool from Napa , i did it.

I took my 2011 X5d to a local garage week ago. Paid $ 68.00 to install for just under an hour job. I purchased OEM Fander Flares ( rivet included) from Ebay for $300.00 shipping included. Initially I was going to install them my self but rivet gun would have cost me $25 to $30. I thought why go through all the trouble for few $$$$. Worked out great

Can you get the extended fenders pre-painted?

They come in Black. Just the way your stock Fender Flares are. I supposed you can have them painted at your local garage.

I've been wanting to do this since day one, the wife likes the look of the factory 255/50/19's and wheels.

As we bought our '11 new in July of '10 and have just over 12k miles on it now, I'm thinking come spring might be the perfect time for a nice set of summer 20's and keep the 19's for the winter as they'll be needing new rubber around that time.

I should start back up the conversation with the wife again and get her interested in the 'nice looking BMW 20's' that are available.

This is a good post with changing out the wheel arches.

I have just fitted the wheel arch extension kit that will allow you to put the 9/10Jx19 or 10/11Jx20 OEM wheel option on the SE that came from the factory with 8.5Jx18.
Original arch back

The front arch is basically the same

New arch front and back

Original 18” Wheels

New 19” M Sport wheels

Fitting instructions to follow
Paul, your pictures disappeared, can you report them somehow?

Or can someone else post their pics?
