Angry DVD changer malfunction

I was switching disks using the i-drive controller, and suddenly the changer ejected the last CD inserted. And all the LEDs are still flashing like crazy...
I can't select DVD from the i-drive menu anymore. It suck.......................
Why this is happening again...

Any idea?

Have you tried shutting the car down and restarting after 20 minutes?

I've had the same problem with my 6 CD Changer since I bought the mine in 07. It's been in four times to fix, but everytime, about a month after being fixed it stops working and the lights start flashing. I've given up on the thing completely and use my iPod instead now.... Only problem is I've got a couple of CDs still stuck in there....

RlR,

If this is happening continually and you have taken it back 4 times for them to fix, cant you insist that they completely replace the system? I dont think I would just give up on it, I would have got hold of the service manager by now and stuck a cd up his **se and asked him how he felt about playing a tune on it or extricating them under waranty.

I did take it up with two different service managers and the only "tunes" they sing are "not a known problem on the E70", "you must've loaded an incompatible disc into the shuttle", "we've checked the shuttle, there's nothing wrong with it", strange since I didn't shove a CD anywhere, imagine the "tunes" they'd sing if I had.........

Quite frankly, I don't think they know what the problem is and are trying to weasel their way out of a replacement unit.

I guess I should've mentioned this, I have, since, taken it up with BMW SA and I'm currently awaiting a response.

Angry

Same problem happened last year and they replaced the entire DVD changer.
Replaced one had worked fine till last week, and now it happened again.... What the heck..
I couldn't even get my 6CDs back last time... It really sucks..
What would you do?? just go to dealer and ask for replacement with the cost of 6cds again??

Just spoke to my dealer when I collected my car from some other repairs, I was told that the CD changer are not normally repaired, they just have them swapped out and that mine would be replaced under warranty....

Keep going back and getting them to replace these units, its the only way to get across to the manufacturer that there is something inherently wrong. I know its a hassle but we got to do it, remember also that the manufacturer ie BMW will look at the record of inherent problems with equipment when it comes time to upgrade component parts in new model releases etc. Its a bitch being the test pilot for this sort of thing though and that's another reason for warranty claims.
