Just ordered new 2009 X5! So stoked!!!

I just placed the order for my wife's new X5, 2 days ago. I just got the production number yesterday from my dealer. It goes into production on 1/19/09. I should have it the second week of February. Here are the specs:

2009 X5 4.8i
Color: Jet Black
Interior: Black Perforated Nevada Leather & Dark Burl Walnut Wood Trim
Options:
  • Sports Package
  • 20" OEM Style 214 Wheels
  • Active Ventilated Seat Package
  • Cold Weather Package
  • Premium Package
  • Premium Sound Package
  • Technology Package
  • Active Steering
  • Comfort Access
  • Running Boards
  • Sirius SAT Radio
  • Aero Kit

I had the Rear Climate Package, but decided last minute to remove it. I'm going with 5% tint from the rear doors and back and I figured I didn't need the shades either.

Here is everything that I have planned for it, when it arrives:

  1. H&R Wheel Spacers
  2. Powdercoat the 20" OEM 214 wheels Gunmetal!
  3. SprintBooster
  4. Painted Jet Black Kidney Grills
  5. 5% Llumar Tint-Rear
  6. 20% Llumar Tint-Front
  7. Smoked/Tinted LED Side Markers
  8. 6000K Xenons
  9. 6000K HID Fogs
  10. 8500K GP Thunder Angel Eyes
  11. 8500K GP Thunder Cornering Lights
  12. Super White LED Lic Plate Bulbs
  13. Front & Side Solaris Exterior Invisibulbs (Amber Flash)
  14. DEBADGED or will have "X5 and 4.8 Emblem/Lettering" painted Jet Black and remounted (still undecided, but definitely having the side lettering debadged).
I have been a BMW owner for many years and many, many models, but this is our first X5. At first, I wasn't too excited, but I have to say that now that this is a reality, I'm getting the gitty feeling again when I order a new car. I can't wait! My wife and my kids are going to be rolling in style; that is for sure!

I'm with you!!! Call the dealership everyday to ask if my X5 has arrived yet (even though it isn't due until the end of Jan).

No need to call the dealer... You can track your car online or call the 1 800 #
for status. Why call the dealer every day. I would think they would get tired of that...

Sounds nice, I'm picking up my diesel tomorrow...

Are you sure this is your wife's X5? Hope she's as excited about all the upgrades/mods.

I always track my cars build on my Owner's Circle. I'm not new to the BMW game .

My wife doesn't really care about the mods/upgrades, as long as I keep it to her liking. For example, she HATES chrome. She thinks it's terrible looking. So with that, no chrome.

Believe it or not, she currently takes the M5 to work each day. My office is in Manhattan and I take the train in, each day. I have another truck, which is our "train station" car that I drive around.

Here are 2 pictures of the M5. The first picture is with my stock, winter wheels and tires (Blizzak LM-22's). I had the stock wheels powdercoated a dark Gunmetal color. The second is with my summer wheels (Radenergie R10's with custom painted Graphite Centers).

Congrats. I have no idea what all those mods are but post some pics when you get it. And good choice on the color--Jet Black is my favorite .

Jet Black is the best. The M5 was my first BMW ever that was NOT Jet Black. All my past Bimmers were Jet Black and I finally decided to go back to Jet Black. Alpine White was up there too, but I would have been forced to paint all the black moldings and bumpers on the car to Alpine White, which I opted not to do.

As for these mods, they are mainly lighting, but some are performance. It's very similar to what I have done with my M5. For example, the angel eyes are being swapped for a "white light" color, instead of the amber, stock color. They fit better with the xenon headlights. However, I'm upgrading the stock xenons (4300K) to 6000K. It's still a white light, but gives more detail on the road in front.

The SprintBooster, which is a MUST for all owners, removes throttle lag. There's no delay through the gears. It's great. It connects right under the throttle pedal too. It's an easy plug and play device that makes a world of difference.

grats on the new X. Question since you're also in NY... have you had any problems with passing inspection with your M5's front side windows tinted as well? Do they even check for tints?

Also, how did you get your taillights tinted? Is it film or paint and where'd you get it done? Any NYS laws against it?

I'd go with the LED angel eyes instead, personally.
